Quick Tip: How to Wind a Bobbin with Elastic Thread
by on April 11, 2017 in

In our next DadSews episode, we tackle how to sew a knit t-shirt. Now, a knit tshirt obviously needs a lot of stretch, especially a shirt for toddlers and kids. It needs to stretch over their heads. So, we need to use stretch thread, or elastic thread. This will give us seams that stretch, instead of seams that break.

One of the best things you can do to prepare to sew stretch fabric with stretch thread, is to loosely wind your bobbin, or load your bobbin. This will preserve the stretch, so it’s not tight at the time of sewing.

You can of course do this by hand, but you can also use the automatic bobbin winder, built into you JUKI sewing machine (or your particular model).

You can get the same JUKI machine I use for 23% OFF list price, by visiting Fabric Hut with my special link: http://DadSews.FabricHut.com.
